Former Adweek/Forbes Reporter Elaine Wong Joins ID Media As Corporate Communications Director
NEW YORK, March 31, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- ID Media, the nation's largest direct response and digital media agency, today announced that it has hired former Adweek and Forbes media/marketing reporter Elaine Wong as its Director of Corporate Communications—a new position.
Wong joins ID Media directly from Forbes, where she wrote about advertising and also oversaw the publication's popular online CMO Network section, which included video interviews with high profile marketing executives. Prior to that, she got her feet wet in the world of advertising—covering everything from the annual television upfronts to cutting-edge digital and social media campaigns to agency account wins—at AdweekMedia, where she wrote for the veteran trade brands Adweek, Brandweek and Mediaweek. During her time there, she profiled some of the biggest names in marketing, including Intel chief marketing officer Deborah Conrad and former Procter & Gamble global marketing chief Jim Stengel.
As corporate communications director, Wong will broaden ID Media's profile by communicating the agency's best practices, analytical insights and trends shaping the media marketplace.
"After writing about the industry for three years, I've decided to jump right in and learn it. And what better place to do that than at ID Media," Wong says. "The company is the leader in its field and the team is constantly pushing the frontier on new, accountable media solutions."
Her appointment, effective immediately, comes at a time when the interest in media is increasing significantly. Earlier this week, the agency announced it had hired Diana Bald, who was most recently Univision's vice president of business development, as SVP, Director of Marketing. Wong will report directly to Bald and Lynn Fantom, the agency's chairman and CEO.
Noted Fantom, "Press, marketers and consultants are increasingly passionate about learning what's new in media. With over 70 active clients, we've got data that provide unique real-time insights into marketplaces where rates are driven by supply and demand."
"Our response data also give us a unique window into how consumers make brand decisions," she added. "We are thrilled to have someone of Elaine's caliber to help us communicate more about the very exciting trends we're seeing."
Wong is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. Her senior thesis chronicling the life of a homeless shoeshiner—and his just-over-broke boss—earned her English honors. She is fluent in conversational Cantonese and will be based in New York, but will manage corporate communications for ID Media's offices across the U.S.
