Foresters receives A.M. Best "A" Excellent rating for 15 consecutive years
Subsidiaries upgraded from "A-" to "A" rating
TORONTO, July 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ - Foresters™, an international financial services provider, has maintained its "A" (Excellent) Financial Strength Rating (FSR) from A.M. Best Company1. A.M. Best has now affirmed Foresters "A" (Excellent) rating for 15 consecutive years. This independent rating is an important measure of the organization's financial strength and stability, reflecting Foresters ability to fulfill its ongoing insurance obligations to policyholders. A.M. Best also affirmed Foresters issuer credit rating (ICR) of "a+".
In addition, A.M. Best upgraded two of Foresters subsidiaries, Foresters Life Insurance Company (Foresters Life) and First Investors Life Insurance Company (First Investors Life), to an "A" (Excellent) from "A-" (Excellent) FSR rating. The ICR for both subsidiaries also increased to "a+" (Excellent) from "a-" (Excellent).

Foresters conservative investment strategy has resulted in a surplus of $1.9 billion CDN2, assuring its ability to withstand adverse business and market conditions. With a Minimum Continuing Capital and Surplus Requirements (MCCSR) ratio of 409% as of December 31, 2014, Foresters solvency ratios3 are above local regulatory requirements and industry averages in all three countries in which it operates - Canada, the US and the UK.
