NEW YORK, May 16, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Ford O'Brien LLP, a white collar defense and litigation boutique law firm headquartered in New York, is pleased to announce that Adam Pollock has joined the firm as Partner, effective May 3, 2017. Prior to joining Ford O'Brien, Adam served as an Assistant Attorney General in the New York Office of the Attorney General, as well as an attorney at Morvillo Abramowitz Grand Iason & Anello P.C.
"Adam is just the right blend of vast governmental and litigation expertise," noted Ford O'Brien co-founder Adam Ford. "Adam brings high-quality case strategy and a depth of litigation knowledge."
Mr. Pollock will continue to hone his litigation success at Ford O'Brien by focusing on the representation of domestic and international clients litigating civil lawsuits, disputes, and arbitrations; defending regulatory and criminal enforcement actions, investigations, and prosecutions; and facing the immigration consequences stemming therefrom. Complementing this practice, he will engage in the defense of False Claims Act suits, and file qui tam whistleblower actions, in a broad range of industries.
"From every angle, Adam is a great addition to the team and a valuable asset to current and future clients," said Kevin O'Brien, co-founder of Ford O'Brien. "We are truly excited to grow our firm through strategic, smart additions that strengthen our offerings."
"Ford O'Brien has quickly become the go-to firm for individual and corporate clients alike – the firm's unique blend of zealous advocacy, combined with its wealth of knowledge and expertise, delivers phenomenal results," said Adam Pollock. "I am thrilled to be able to join and support Ford O'Brien's work and growth."
While serving as an Assistant Attorney General in the New York Office of the Attorney General, Adam handled a wide range of civil and criminal matters, focusing especially on using the False Claims Act to recover in cases in which the State had been defrauded. Adam drove all aspects of enforcement and prosecution, including investigation, taking testimony, and representing the State in court. Before joining the Attorney General's Office, Adam was an attorney at the criminal and civil litigation boutique Morvillo Abramowitz Grand Iason & Anello P.C. He represented individuals throughout the United States and from various countries in state and federal criminal cases, including healthcare fraud, tax, and antitrust prosecutions.
Adam attended the University of Michigan, where he studied computer science, and spent a year at Tel Aviv University, taking courses in middle eastern politics. He attended the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he was a Levy Scholar in Law and Public Governance. He graduated from Penn cum laude, clerked for Magistrate Judge Gabriel Gorenstein in the Southern District of New York, and then spent six months at the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
In addition to Mr. Pollock, Ford O'Brien is pleased to announce the hiring of Amanda Lee Wetzel as litigation associate. Ms. Wetzel specializes in white collar criminal defense as well as commercial litigation and arbitration, and brings particular expertise to matters with transatlantic elements. She has worked as a litigation associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP in New York and with Debevoise & Plimpton LLP in Paris and has handled commercial and criminal litigation matters in the U.S. and French courts. She also has experience litigating before the European Court of Human Rights and other international human rights forums. Amanda clerked on the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, was the Dean Acheson Legal Stage at the European Court of Justice, and served as a legal fellow on the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, where she worked on treaties. Ms. Wetzel is professionally fluent in French, is a member of the New York bar and practiced French law as a member of the Paris bar from 2014 through 2016.
