AUSTIN, Texas, April 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Global cybersecurity leader Forcepoint™ today announced that its board of directors has appointed Matthew P. Moynahan as chief executive officer effective May 9, 2016. Moynahan, 45, joins Forcepoint with more than 20 years of experience at some of the world's leading security and information technology companies. As Forcepoint's new CEO, Moynahan will lead the company's strategy to accelerate delivery of a unified, cloud-centric security platform to an expanding global customer base.
Thomas A. Kennedy, Forcepoint chairman of the board, and chairman and chief executive officer of Raytheon Company, commented on the appointment: "Forcepoint was created to empower organizations to drive their business forward by safely embracing transformative cybersecurity technologies. As we conclude our integration activity from last year's Raytheon|Websense merger, Matt's leadership will enable Forcepoint to deliver on that promise as the company enters its next phase of innovation and growth."
"I am honored to join Forcepoint at this exciting point in the company's history," Moynahan said. "Forcepoint is a new brand with a proud heritage, and I am committed to empowering this talented team to realize its full potential as the world's leading security company."
Moynahan is a seasoned executive with deep security expertise and a background in sales, product management and general management roles, as well as strong domain expertise in cloud services and security intelligence. Since 1996 he has served in a series of increasingly senior roles at companies including Reciprocal, Symantec Corporation and Veracode, where he served as president and CEO. Since 2012, Moynahan has served as president of Arbor Networks, a fully-owned operating company of the $20 billion Danaher Corporation, which was recently acquired by NetScout Systems. Since the acquisition, Moynahan has served as both a member of NetScout's senior executive leadership team and president of its newly formed security division.
Moynahan holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Williams College and a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the board of directors of Care to Compete, a nonprofit supporting athletes with brain damage and chronic traumatic encephalopathy; and is a member of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.
Moynahan succeeds interim CEO Jim Hagan, who will remain as Forcepoint chief operating officer, and previous CEO John McCormack, who served as CEO of Websense, Inc., Raytheon|Websense and Forcepoint from 2013-2016. McCormack will remain as a strategic advisor to the board of directors through 2016.
