The last of nearly 300,000 track clips to be driven into the track, as well as a dedication marker unveiled, during October 18 Track Completion Ceremony
MONROVIA, Calif., Oct. 13, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Foothill Gold Line from Pasadena to Azusa is on time and on budget for construction completion in late-September 2015. The Measure R-funded project will achieve a major milestone later this month, when all 28-miles of light rail track needed for the 11.5-mile project will be fully installed. The Foothill Gold Line will be holding the Track Completion Ceremony the morning of October 18, 2014 to commemorate this important achievement.
The Track Completion Ceremony will include presentations by area officials representing the local, county, state and federal levels (see list below), and KNX Business Hour Host Frank Mottek will be the Master of Ceremonies. During the event, the final of about 300,000 e-clips will be driven into place (e-clips permanently attach the steel rail to the concrete ties), marking the permanent connection between the cities of Pasadena, Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale and Azusa, via this new light rail line. Also, a sidewalk marker that recognizes the importance of the day to these corridor cities, will be unveiled by the Mayors of each city.
More than 300 people are expected to turn out to the event, including the following officials:

About the Foothill Gold Line - The Foothill Gold Line is a nearly $2 billion, 12-station extension of the Metro Gold Line light rail system, being overseen by the Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension Construction Authority, an independent transportation planning and construction agency created in 1998 by the California State Legislature. The project is planned in two segments – Pasadena to Azusa and Azusa to Montclair. The Pasadena to Azusa segment is fully funded by Los Angeles County's Measure R and is on budget and on schedule to be completed in September 2015 when it will be turned over to Metro for testing and pre-revenue service. Measure R is funding the majority of the cost associated with the advanced conceptual engineering and environmental work for the Azusa to Montclair segment (San Bernardino County will fund their portion of the work), which will be shovel ready in 2017. The Construction Authority is currently seeking $1 billion needed to construct the Azusa to Montclair segment.
