Foothill Gold Line Board Unanimous on 2017 Leadership
Former Glendora Mayor Doug Tessitor and Claremont Mayor Sam Pedroza will remain Board Chairman and Vice Chairman as Foothill Gold Line prepares to break ground on next phase
MONROVIA, Calif., Nov. 17, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- At their November meeting, the Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority (Construction Authority) Board of Directors voted unanimously to re-elect former Glendora Mayor Doug Tessitor as Chairman, and Claremont Mayor Sam Pedroza as Vice Chairman, of the nine-member Foothill Gold Line board of directors.
"This is a labor of love for Sam and I," commented Chairman Tessitor after the board's unanimous vote. "We need to finish what we started and we are in great shape to do just that with the recent passage of Measure M."
Vice Chairman Pedroza added, "The voters of Los Angeles County have put their trust in us to complete this project to the county line in Claremont; and I want to thank Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and the board at Metro for keeping their promise to get the Gold Line to Claremont as a top county priority."
The continued leadership of Chairman Tessitor and Vice Chairman Pedroza comes at a time when the Construction Authority is preparing to break ground on the 12.3-mile Glendora to Montclair segment of the project in late 2017. The majority of funding for the six-station extension of the line was approved by voters on November 8 as part of Measure M, and the agency plans to break ground in late 2017 on the first of two design-build projects.
The Foothill Gold Line board is made up of elected and appointed representatives from throughout the project corridor, including representatives from the cities of Los Angeles, Pasadena, Duarte, Glendora, Claremont and Ontario. Representatives of the Governor and the San Bernardino Associated Governments (SANBAG) also sit on the board as non-voting members.
