Foot Locker Celebrates Decade of Giving at Annual Fundraising Gala
Athletic Industry Unites to Support United Negro College Fund
NEW YORK, Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- For the tenth consecutive year, Foot Locker Foundation, Inc. joined together executives from the sports industry, professional athletes and celebrities on Tuesday, October 19, at New York City's Gotham Hall, to celebrate its annual "On Our Feet" fundraising gala. The event has benefitted UNCF (the United Negro College Fund) since 2004, through a scholarship program to provide students the opportunity to further their education.

Footwear companies -- Nike, adidas, Reebok, Converse, Under Armour, Skechers, to name a few, lent their support to this important cause. Celebrity guests including Curtis Martin (NY Jets Legend), Chace Crawford (Actor-Gossip Girl), Steve Smith (NY Giants Wide Receiver), Darrelle Revis (NY Jets Cornerback), Adam Richman (Man v. Food Host) and Jason Pierre-Paul (NY Giants Defensive End) were just a few who attended the evening's festivities. All guests wore traditional black-tie attire while sporting their favorite pair of athletic shoes.
Through the years, this event has raised the funds for the scholarship program in support of UNCF which has provided more than 370 students with the opportunity to obtain higher education.
UNCF is the nation's largest and most effective minority education organization. Each year, it provides support to its 39 member colleges and universities and their 55,000 students, awards scholarships to more than 9,000 students at more than 900 colleges around the country, and serves as a national advocate for the importance of education.
Foot Locker Foundation, Inc. works closely with organizations to address issues that concern the communities in which it serves. In addition to the "On Our Feet" program, the Foundation provides support for educational and sports programs across the country that empowers young people to achieve their goals and be successful in life.
