For this summer sensation, bloggers from Damn Delicious, French Foodie Mom, Foodalogue, Girl in the Little Red Kitchen and The Wicked Noodle will create original recipes using Chilean fare selected as a surprise by Foods from Chile. Readers of these blogs can submit their own recipe ideas for a chance to win a gift bag of tasty Chilean foodstuffs.
Winning Recipes Revealed During Twitter Party
In culmination of the summer #CookChilean Food Blogger Challenge, Foods from Chile will team up with Kitchen Play to host an interactive Twitter Party at 7 p.m. on Aug. 6. During the party, Foods from Chile will announce the winning recipes from the talented bloggers who shared in the #CookChilean challenge. Foods from Chile will also give away five prize crates featuring Chilean foods. Sign up for the Twitter Party here.
Foods from Chile held its first blogger challenge and Twitter Party in May. More than 100 foodies hungry for fresh ideas joined the party to mix with food bloggers and discover the winning recipes created using vibrant Chilean ingredients, such as heart-healthy blueberries, olive oil and salmon. Thanks to the participation of foodie fans, #CookChilean even became a nationally trending topic during the party.
Recipes Feature Highest-Quality Ingredients
This blogger challenge coincides with the release of the annual Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) Food Security Index, which measures 27 factors such as affordability, quality, safety and availability of food. Chile jumped ahead 17 places in this year's assessment of food safety and quality, and, for the second year running, Chile ranked first place in Latin America for overall food security.
"The government of President Pinera has taken a number of initiatives toward continued improvement of food security, including the current congressional proposal to establish a new Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Forestry," said Luis Mayol, Chile's Minister of Agriculture. "Under the oversight of the new Ministry, Chile and its trading partners will continue to benefit from stringent and centralized quality control measures at each step of food production, processing, packaging, transportation and more."
