FoodLogiQ expands growth funding, welcomes new CEO and leadership
DURHAM, N.C., Sept. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- FoodLogiQ, the leading food safety, traceability and sustainability Software as a Service company, today announced that the company has expanded its most recent round of growth financing. These additional funds will be used to accelerate the development and introduction of its industry leading product suite and to further build out its leadership team to take the business to the next level.
In addition to this round of investment, FoodLogiQ is thrilled to welcome Dean Wiltse as the organization's new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective September 1, 2015. Wiltse succeeds founding CEO Tom Finegan who will continue to serve as the Chairman of the organization's board of directors and a special advisor.
"FoodLogiQ has experienced a solid year of growth as leading food manufacturers and distributors look to our software to meet the global demand for transparency and safety across the food chain," said Finegan. "Dean brings an immense wealth of knowledge in this space needed to expand on this growth."
Wiltse joins FoodLogiQ following an extensive track record of growing companies and driving revenue growth and strong returns for investors of start-ups, pre-IPO businesses and public companies for over 25 years. His tenure as CEO and President of Greenfield Online/Ciao from 2001 to 2005 marked the establishment of the world's largest interrelationship of global online consumer communities and a successful Nasdaq IPO. As Founder of Thumbspeak in 2009 he established the first, leading do-it-yourself (DIY) Mobile Relationship Marketing platform.
"Our leading product, FoodLogiQ Connect, uniquely addresses a key issue for every food company with a supply chain - bringing all of your suppliers together in a centralized, online community to manage quality, safety and traceability from the day a grower plants a seed in the field to the instant a consumer looks for assurance on the label of the food they are about to buy," said Wiltse.
Joining Wiltse among the senior management ranks is Katy Jones as the new Vice President of Marketing. Reporting to Wiltse, Jones will grow the marketing arm of the business, launch a robust lead generation program and expand product marketing via web, digital and social channels.
Co-founder Andy Kennedy, the product visionary behind FoodLogiQ Connect, will continue to focus on the food chain product strategy for FoodLogiQ and industry standards development including GS1's traceability initiatives. Working closely with strategic customers and industry partners, Kennedy will help bring leading edge concepts in food chain software into reality while applying a decade of food chain expertise to pressing industry challenges. "Growing our team will help us reach even more restaurant chains, food retailers and food companies that are looking for a turnkey, cost-effective, cloud-based food chain management system to meet both the needs of consumers and the Food Safety Modernization Act," said Kennedy.
FoodLogiQ also announces the addition of two seasoned executives, Jay Corscadden and Jamie Duke, to its board of directors. Corscadden is the Managing General Partner of Clarkston Merchant Partners where he is responsible for making and managing the firm's principal investments. Before co-founding Clarkston Merchant Partners, Corscadden co-founded and managed Adams Harkness Ventures, a technology-focused venture capital fund. Corscadden began his career with KPMG Peat Marwick before then joining the software and consulting division of Siemens-Nixdorf Information Systems.
Duke is an independent management consultant with a unique blend of strategy, technical and hands-on operating experience. Most recently, Duke spent eleven years as Chief Operating Officer of SciQuest, Inc., a Cary, NC based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) provider of e-Procurement and supplier management solutions. Duke has worked in several technology leadership roles, serving as Chief Information Officer of BuildNet, a startup construction materials web technology company; Vice President of Sales and Marketing for NetOriginate, a startup technology endeavor incubated within GE Capital Mortgage; and as Group Vice President for technology and alternative delivery channels for First Citizens Bank.
