For the youngsters on hand for the series, which begins Thursday in Williamsport, Pa., Sportservice will serve Food Network's Nutella and banana sandwich for $4. It's also available with kettle chips or an apple.
Moms and dads can enjoy a couple of full-flavored options from Food Network. There's the South Street Sausage, an Italian sausage topped with aged provolone, oil and vinegar, roasted red peppers, banana peppers, yellow mustard, shredded lettuce and tomato – all served on a sub roll. Another, the Italian Market Burger, is topped with smoked mozzarella, sauteed peppers and onions, and lettuce and tomato. Each item is $5.
Sportservice has partnered with Food Network to bring regionally inspired steak sandwiches and other menu options to major league ballparks the last two seasons, but this is a first for the Little League World Series. About 300,000 fans are expected to attend the games through Aug. 28.
"These Food Network items provide a great value and add to the broad menu we have worked to create at the Little League World Series," said James Major, a regional executive chef for Sportservice. "I look forward to this event each year because it's all about helping make it a great experience for the families and the youngsters."
Sportservice is celebrating its 10th anniversary as the exclusive food service provider at the series, where it supplements the concession stands at historic Howard J. Lamade Stadium and Little League Volunteer Stadium by bringing in a number of specialty portable concession carts. They include regional favorites from a few of the major professional sports venues at which Sportservice operates.
Fans can try a Montgomery Inn BBQ pulled-pork sandwich from Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, home of the Reds, as well as a Red Osier roast beef sandwich, a Western New York favorite served by Sportservice at Buffalo's Ralph Wilson Stadium, Cleveland Browns Stadium and several other locations. Carly's Italian Ice from Terrell, N.C., is served at Bank of America Stadium, home of the Carolina Panthers. Sportservice will also serve 10 slushie flavors from Bricin's Festival Foods in Connecticut.
Once again, Sportservice will be serving Pennsylvania favorite Kunzler hot dogs from Lancaster, Pa. Other traditional ballpark favorites will be available such as fries, pizza, chicken sandwiches, and chicken tenders, as well as bottled water, Gatorade and soft drinks.
Dozens of volunteers from non-profit organizations in Williamsport and Lycoming County, Penn., will operate concessions for Sportservice at the series to raise thousands of dollars for their causes through a share of concession revenue.
