Follow That Truck! Zagat Launches Food Truck Website
NEW YORK, Nov. 9, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- As of today, following food trucks will be easier since Zagat Survey launched a free website designed to help hungry New Yorkers locate their favorite traveling meals. The new site, FoodTrucks.Zagat.com, is also functional on mobile browsers. It visually plots the real-time locations of New York's most notable food trucks on a map. Trucks will be able to update their locations using specialized Tweets.
Zagat's site, now available in beta, allows users to search for food trucks by location, by cuisine and by Zagat food rating. Once a user has chosen a food truck, the site will indicate its location, social media links (Facebook, Foursquare and Twitter), as well as its Zagat ratings and reviews.
According to Zagat's 2011 New York City Restaurants Survey, 26% of surveyors report eating from gourmet food trucks and 40% say they're interested in trying them, ergo, Zagat's decision to create the new site.
The website, designed by creative interactive agency JESS3, also hosts a food truck survey where users are encouraged to rate and review the trucks that they have tried in the past year.
Currently, Zagat's top-rated food trucks are all on the sweet side of the street – Wafels & Dinges, followed by Street Sweets and Van Leeuwen Ice Cream.
