Focus on Energy Relocates Headquarters to Downtown Madison
MADISON, Wis., Feb. 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Focus on Energy, Wisconsin utilities' statewide program for energy efficiency and renewable resources, today announced the relocation of its headquarters from Middleton, Wis., to One South Pinckney Street in downtown Madison, Wis. The move accommodates recent staff growth and provides the organization with a more prominent and centralized base of operations.
"Focus on Energy is dedicated to working with Wisconsin residents and businesses to manage rising energy costs, promote in-state economic development and protect the environment," said William S. Haas, director of Program Administration. "As we prepare to launch new programs in 2012 to support these goals, the relocation of our headquarters to downtown Madison better positions the organization to serve its customers throughout the state as well as its own internal needs."
Focus on Energy's commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability is evident throughout its new office space, which has been designed to achieve Gold level certification under the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership for Energy and Environmental Design (LEED™) standard. LEED is a third-party certification program and the nationally accepted benchmark for design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings.
Energy efficient features of the office include high performance fluorescent and LED lighting that achieves a lighting power density that is 65 percent below code requirements, the offset of 100 percent of energy use by renewable energy credits, and office equipment and appliances that are ENERGY STAR® compliant. Additional environmental benefits include an average recycling rate of more than 85 percent for construction related debris and the achievement of a 20 to 30 percent reduction in water use compared to minimum code requirements.
Shaw Environmental & Infrastructure, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Shaw Group Inc., was named program administrator for Focus on Energy in March of 2011. Since then, the program administrator has hired 20 new Wisconsin-based employees. An additional 21 jobs have been created statewide through the selection of program implementers for new residential programs and additional jobs are expected to be created as new programs are added.
