FMU Education Group Joins the Laureate International Universities Network
FMU Becomes Laureate's 12th Brazilian Institution
BALTIMORE, Sept. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Laureate International Universities is proud to announce that the FMU Education Group has become the latest addition to Laureate's international network of universities. FMU is the 12th institution in Brazil to join Laureate, which now educates more than 250,000 undergraduate and graduate students across eight states in the country. Laureate has made Brazil a top priority for the investment of resources and technology because of the country's strong, transparent regulatory system, which assures quality in higher education.
Founded in 1968, the FMU Education Group delivers more than 100 undergraduate and 140 graduate degree programs to nearly 70,000 students in a wide range of academic disciplines through three institutions: Faculdades Metropolitanas Unidas (FMU), Faculdades Integradas de Sao Paulo (FISP), and Faculdades Integradas Alcantara Machado e a Faculdade de Artes Alcantara Machado (FIAM-FAAM). The FMU Education Group includes eight campuses, which are all in the city of Sao Paulo.
"The addition of FMU to the Laureate network shows our commitment to supporting Brazil's continued development through increasing access to quality higher education," said Jose Roberto Loureiro, president of Laureate Brazil.
"Laureate and FMU have a shared educational vision, making this partnership a natural match," said FMU's founder, Edevaldo Alves da Silva. "We believe in delivering the highest quality education — one that focuses on employability and ensures that our students are well-prepared to succeed in today's global economy."
FMU's students and faculty will benefit from Laureate's international programs, educational expertise and advanced technologies. "We are honored to have FMU become a part of Laureate," said Douglas L. Becker, chairman and chief executive officer of Laureate Education, Inc. "We look forward to bringing the educational resources and strengths of our network to this leading institution."
