Flower Orthopedics Releases A New Anatomic Distal Radius FlowerCube™
HORSHAM, Pa., Jan. 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Continuing on the success of the FlowerCube™ concept, Flower Orthopedics released a new anatomic Distal Radius FlowerCube to complement its upper extremity product portfolio. Like all FlowerCubes™, the Distal Radius FlowerCube™ contains the requisite implants and instruments for the procedure, delivered Ready-For-Surgery™, eliminating preoperative, on-site sterilization. Simple yet efficient, the new plating set and instruments are designed to address even the most complex distal radius fracture patterns.
Focusing on increasing efficiency in the OR, the Distal Radius FlowerCube™ comes with new standardized multi-use disposable instruments, which can significantly cut down on intra-operative time and costs. Guaranteed sterile, pristine and always complete, Flower's Ready-for-Surgery™ instruments provide assurance that the right surgery-specific tools are in place and in prime condition.
"The anatomic distal radius plates and the new disposable instruments from Flower represent the latest evolution of the FlowerCube™ concept and provide an economic, efficient and versatile solution for treatment of distal radius fractures. The versatility of the plating system combined with the benefits of the Flower Ready-for-Surgery™ concept increase the efficiency of operative distal radius fracture management," says Timothy Niacaris, MD PhD, Chief of Hand Surgery at the JPS Health Network in Fort Worth, TX.
"We believe that the new Distal Radius FlowerCube™ is ideal for both high volume hospitals and cost-conscious Surgery centers alike. While the plating set has been extremely well received by orthopedic surgeons, it is our standardized disposable instrumentation and the Ready-for-Surgery™ concept that really bring concrete, quantifiable value for our customers," adds Oliver Burckhardt, CEO and President of Flower Orthopedics.
Indications for Use:
The Flower Anatomic Distal Radius plating set belongs to the Flower Small and Medium Implants Set. The Flower Small and Medium Implants set is intended for use for internal fixation of fractures and reconstruction of bones, including the scapula, olecranon, humerus, radius, ulna, pelvis, distal tibia, fibula, hand and foot in adults and in adolescents (12-21) in whom the growth plates have fused. Examples of these internal fixations and reconstructions include compression fractures, intra-articular and extra articular fractures, displaced fractures, osteotomies, non-unions and mal-unions. About Flower Orthopedics:
Flower Orthopedics' "Ready-for-Surgery" concept provides surgery-specific applications in individual sterile packaging, which eliminates the need for pre-op sterilization and, compared to current practices, considerably reduces the number of implants and instruments brought into the operating room. All instruments in the FlowerCube™ are single-use and disposable, eliminating the need to reprocess surgical tools post-op. The disposable feature also decreases the risk of infection stemming from reusable devices and expedites valuable OR turnaround time. With these efficiencies, the company expects hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers to save as much as 30 percent of the combined implant and instrument costs currently spent on each surgical case.
