SCARBOROUGH, Maine, Sept. 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- FlowCam® Nano from Fluid Imaging Technologies, Inc. wraps up a remarkable first year in the market with multiple recognitions for breakthrough innovation in laboratory science. It is the only analyzer capable of simultaneously counting, measuring, producing high-resolution digital images, and analyzing nanoparticles in liquid samples for identification in real time.
Since its introduction in October 2017, the patented FlowCam Nano garnered the following industry awards due to its dramatic improvement on a standard air objective flow imaging microscope:
The 2018 Pittcon Today Excellence Silver Award;
The 2018 Innovator of the Year award from the Manufacturers Association of Maine; and
The 2018 Pharma Innovation Award from Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Magazine.
"I'd like to congratulate and thank our team at Fluid Imaging for bringing to market a true innovation that has been so well received by the industry," said Kent Peterson, CEO of Fluid Imaging Technologies. "There's a need for better particle characterization and complementary particle analysis techniques. Oil immersion flow microscopy will help scientists across all industries improve the quality and safety of their products."
Having an image and morphological details of nanoparticles, cells or bacteria provides valuable insight into the nature and origin of the particle or impurity. It allows analytical scientists, biochemists, formulation scientists, lab managers and other professionals to identify where in the value chain a problem may originate during development and/or process manufacturing, thereby improving overall quality.
FlowCam Nano has been used in the examination of neonatal bacteria, where Nano-Flow Imaging provides real-time images of bacteria in flow, versus cultures and other assays. Notoriously difficult to culture Spirochete bacteria, such as Borrelia burgdorferi, the cause of Lyme disease, can be imaged and analyzed with the FlowCam Nano.
FlowCam Nano is part of Fluid Imaging Technologies particle imaging and analysis family of instruments engineered to analyze particles ranging from 300 nm to 5 mm in size.
