Florida Senator Dan Gelber, Labor Unions to Join AFGE at Sunday Event Supporting TSA Workers
FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla., July 15 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --The American Federation of Government Employees, the union for Transportation Security Officers (TSO) in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and across the country, will show its gratitude for the TSA workforce with an event Sunday, July 18 at the Ft. Lauderdale airport. The union will be joined by Florida State Senator Dan Gelber, South Florida AFL-CIO President Fred Frost and Broward County AFL-CIO President Dan Reynolds.
"In gratitude of their hard work and commitment to protecting this nation, AFGE would publicly like to say 'thank you' to every TSO, and in particular, those throughout the state of Florida," AFGE 5th District National Vice President Charlotte Flowers said.
"We are grateful that Senator Gelber has recognized and supported AFGE's efforts to ensure that the nation's Transportation Security Officers be granted full workplace protections, including the right to collective bargaining, which they currently are denied," AFGE National President John Gage said. "We are appreciative of all his efforts and look forward to hearing him speak."
"Furthermore, AFGE is grateful for the support we have received from the AFL-CIO, and specifically the Florida AFL-CIO and its Central Labor Councils," Flowers added. "It's imperative that the TSOs know they are not alone in their fight for full workplace protections, and we thank the AFL for its backing."
