Florida School Children, National Airlines, and World Harvest Donate and Deliver 60,000 lbs of Aid to Haiti
BUFFALO, N.Y., Feb. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- National Airlines, a wholly owned subsidiary of National Air Cargo (NAC), announced today it is donating a DC8-63F Intercontinental freighter to deliver 60,000 lbs of humanitarian aid collected by school children from the American Heritage School in Del Ray Beach, FL; Avitat; and World Harvest to Port au Prince tonight. The donation initiative was started by several area school children, including Caterina Alf, age 11, whose parents Christopher Alf (Chris Alf) and Lori Alf own NAC.
The plane is schedule to depart from Miami International airport at 7:00 p.m. EST and arrive in Port au Prince at approximately 10:00 p.m. EST.
Lori Alf, co-founder of National Air Cargo is quoted, "The donation of this plane is one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. We get to help the Haitian people during this trying time of need and also help these children understand the importance of compassion. My hope is that this trip will create a life experience for them – one that helps them integrate community service, compassion, and charity into their lives moving forward."
National Airlines is working with several agencies in Port au Prince to distribute the hospital supplies, pharmaceuticals, water, syringes, bandages, canned food, clothing, shoes, household goods and medicines on the flight.

National Airlines also flew two DC8 Freight flights to the earthquake victims, one from Ostend, Belgium and one from Zurich, Switzerland with medical supplies, food, water and other emergency relief supplies into Santo Domingo. The company was able to mobilize aircraft to assist in earthquake relief efforts within 2-hours of finalizing the agreements.
