Florida Representative MaryLynn Magar Receives 2018 Hospice Champion Award
STUART, Fla., Nov. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- On October 25th, 2018, Representatives of Treasure Health Hospice joined Florida Hospice & Palliative Care Association President & CEO, Paul A. Ledford to recognize Rep. MaryLynn Magar (R), Hobe Sound, the "2018 Hospice Champion Award." This award is bestowed upon Florida Legislators for outstanding support and advocacy for hospice care in Florida. "Rep. Magar has been incredibly helpful to us in providing insight and quiet leadership in matters related to hospice, for which we are very grateful. As a key player on the majority party leadership team, Rep. Magar is well thought of on both sides of the aisle, and that is high recognition," noted Ledford.
Elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2012, Rep. Magar currently serves as the Chair of the Health Innovation Subcommittee. There she has acted as a strong advocate for continued excellence in Florida's hospice and palliative care services. Her consistent work in partnership with FHPCA and hospice providers in her district has helped families and loved ones in need of special care. In the 2018 Legislative Session, Rep. Magar led the committee with preliminary jurisdiction over health care regulation. She was very supportive of FHPCA's Palliative Care bill sponsored by fellow 2018 Hospice Champion Award winner, Rep. Charlie Stone (R), Ocala.
"Since elected to serve our District years ago, Rep. Magar has been an ally to hospice programs like Treasure Coast Hospice. We are happy to put a spotlight on her hard work and dedication to the many families and loved ones in need of our special care," said Murray Fournie, VP of Philanthropy, Treasure Coast Hospice Foundation.
Also participating in the presentation of the Hospice Champion Award, was Deborah Dailey, President & CEO, Treasure Health Hospice, and a gathering of the Treasure Health Hospice team.
Treasure Health Hospice serves Martin, St. Lucie, and Okeechobee Counties, including part of Florida's 82nd House District where Rep. Magar serves.
FHPCA continues to support hospice providers throughout Florida and publicly recognize elected officials whose leadership paves the way to better care for all.
