"Learning to take precautions to safeguard ourselves and those we love as best we can is a responsibility we can't ignore in today's world," said 2011 Florida Realtors Professional Development Chair Patti Ketcham. "Personal, professional and community safety is an issue that brings all Floridians — Realtors, their families, friends and neighbors – together. And as we participate in Florida Realtors' 'Day of Safety' on Sept. 9, we are keenly aware of the upcoming 10th anniversary of one of the most horrific and tragic events in our history, the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001."
The Guinness world record category is "Largest Business Lesson, Multiple Venues." Florida Realtors is connecting to local state associations via satellite to create a large videoconference using a live broadcast. Students will be able to participate in the program with fellow Realtor members in the convenience of their local association office, while building strong community relationships with their friends and neighbors.
"Our goal is to teach you how to live, work and play more safely," says Andrew Wooten, Florida Realtors safety expert and a safety consultant with the National Association of Realtors® (NAR). "This Day of Safety is for everyone, whether you're a senior living alone, a college student on you're on for the first time or a working professional, such as Realtors – this class is all about you. We'll talk about home safety, parking safety, safety in your vehicles and much more."
Local Realtor associations have received sponsor packets and marketing flyers about the Day of Safety program and Guinness World Record attempt. Registration is still available and will be handled onsite at the various local venues. Realtors and real estate licensees attending the event will earn three hours of continuing education (CE) credit.
