RESTON, Va., March 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Official Payments Corp., a leading provider of electronic payment solutions, wants to remind Florida property owners that the property tax due date is Thursday, March 31. Those who own property in Duval, Hillsborough and Orange counties may pay online through www.OfficialPayments.com.
"Residents in Duval, Hillsborough and Orange counties can use a credit or debit card to pay their property taxes online at www.OfficialPayments.com by 11:59 p.m. on March 31, and their taxes will be officially paid," said Alex P. Hart, President and CEO of Tier Technologies, Inc., the parent company of Official Payments.
Taxes are considered delinquent on April 1, at which time a 3% penalty is added to the bill. County tax collectors are required to hold a tax certificate sale to collect taxes that remain unpaid. These certificates become enforceable first liens against the real estate. Taxpayers should visit their county's website for additional information.
Official Payments contracts with individual Florida counties to process online payments for property taxes, water bills, citations, utilities, and court fees. Duval, Hillsborough and Orange counties are among the most populous counties in the state and encompass the cities of Jacksonville, Tampa and Orlando, respectively.
