Florida East Coast Railway Supports Appointment of Bill Johnson as Enterprise Florida CEO
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., March 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Florida East Coast Railway (FECR) today announced its support of Bill Johnson's appointment as CEO of Enterprise Florida, a public-private partnership between Florida's business and government leaders and the principal economic development organization for the State of Florida.
"As a Florida-based business, we are pleased to see Mr. Johnson's appointment to this important role. Throughout his career in Florida, he has been a visionary leader and worked diligently to support commerce," said James R. Hertwig, FECR's President and CEO. "We are confident that in his new position Mr. Johnson will bring many opportunities to Florida and expand the state's leadership as a hub for trade and logistics."
During Mr. Johnson's tenure as Director of PortMiami, he was instrumental in developing the strategic alliance that exists today between FECR and PortMiami. This successful public-private partnership provides many benefits to businesses shipping cargo through PortMiami.
"The addition of FECR on-dock intermodal rail capabilities at PortMiami allows seamless ship-to-rail transfers, saving the time and expense of additional transportation from the port to an off-port rail facility," explained Mr. Hertwig. "This allows companies to reach key markets faster, a major factor in business relocation decisions."
