Florida Animal Friend Proudly Presents Grant Recipients
TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Florida Animal Friend, a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing pet overpopulation, announces the 2013 recipients of their annual grant award. This funding provides the opportunity for municipal and non-profit organizations to focus on spay and neuter projects throughout Florida.

In this highly competitive process, organizations are weighed on a number of criteria including an understanding of the overpopulation issues, thorough communication, plan development and implementation, and whether the resources and talent needed to implement such planning is in place.
The grant program is funded through the sale of the Florida Animal Friend license plates, available through the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles. These funds increase the number of alteration surgeries, which greatly reduces pet overpopulation and ultimately saves the lives of homeless cats and dogs. Florida Animal Friend is proud to have awarded the 2013 grants in the range of $10,000 to $25,000, which will help these organizations with their implementation efforts.
"A few months after opening, the Redinger Spay/Neuter Clinic experienced a significant decrease in surgery requests. The publicity and marketing received from the grant program helped increase those numbers and make the clinic self-sustaining in 2012. Thank you, Florida Animal Friend, for helping us meet our goals," said Bryan Williams of Halifax Humane Society, 2012 grant winner.
