PITTSBURGH, Nov. 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- FloCon 2017, the 13th annual open forum for large-scale network analytics, has announced its full technical program and keynote speakers for the conference, to be held January 9-12, 2017, in San Diego. FloCon is sponsored by the CERT Division of the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University.
FloCon is the only conference that focuses on network flow analysis—gleaning security information from compact summaries of network traffic and connections. This year's theme of "Flow and Beyond" emphasizes how to pair exciting new technologies with network analysis to enhance incident detection and network situational awareness.
FloCon draws from a wide swath of academic, industry and government organizations. Academic researchers bring new ideas and analytic techniques. Industry vendors bring the latest software tools and data-capturing hardware. Government analysts bring real-world experience with running and managing security operations centers. All combine to create a conference that emphasizes both the practical and theoretical aspects of network flow analysis.
Showcasing next-generation techniques, FloCon is geared toward operational analysts, tool developers, researchers, and others interested in applying the latest analytics against large volumes of traffic.
The keynote speaker at the conference will be Patrick M. Sullivan, executive director, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, whose talk is titled "Delivering Cyber Warfighting Capability from Seabed to Space."
This year's technical program features exciting and informative presentations that cover a range of network security topics and solutions. Attendees will learn to
- use network flow to gain cyber situational awareness
- leverage the newest traffic analysis techniques
- explore free tools that help to analyze large amounts of network traffic
The program features experts and leaders in the field of flow analysis. Tutorials are offered at no additional cost and are eligible for continuing education credits.
