NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Feb. 28, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- FlipTix, the groundbreaking ticketing platform, announced today that the Newport Beach-based company has signed a deal with BUKU Music + Art Project. FlipTix provides a platform, including a mobile and web app, that lets ticketholders who leave an event early "Flip" (sell) the remaining time on their ticket to a buyer outside the venue.
FlipTix, which has 16 global patent applications on file, is led by co-founder and CEO Jaime Siegel, who spent 16 years as VP of Intellectual Property for Sony, and co-founder President/COO Brian Siegel who previously led a number of Sony's U.S. business operations and Lenovo's North American Consumer Sales efforts.
"We're extremely excited to partner with BUKU, which gives us an unprecedented opportunity to introduce festival goers in New Orleans to the convenience and efficiency of the FlipTix platform," said Jaime Siegel. "No event is ever truly sold out if you have the FlipTix app, and fans will get rewards if they can't stay for the whole event."
FlipTix is the exclusive provider of Flips for BUKU, allowing attendees to recoup value for "unused time" if they leave the festival before its conclusion and a new fan buys their remaining time. FlipTix will also be the event's exclusive sponsor for non-primary ticketing, making it the only ticketing company to be listed as an official partner.
"At BUKU we always look for innovative and disruptive ways to bring value to our customers, and FlipTix is a perfect example of that," said Reeves Price, co-founder and executive producer of BUKU. "Their platform is a simple, smart solution that addresses many different aspects of event production with the bottom line of keeping people in the festival and providing a great customer experience."
Using FlipTix, ticket holders who exit prior to the end of an event simply provide notice through the app that they have left the venue, and new fans are notified that a Flip is available. Prices are set automatically based on the amount of time remaining (in combination with other variables). Sellers receive remuneration in the form of cash, credit, merchandise or gift cards after their ticket is flipped. Buyers get a digital ticket delivered directly on their phone and then either pick up their activated wristband from a designated FlipTix location at a festival venue or use the digital ticket for entry, depending on the event.
The deal with BUKU is the latest milestone for FlipTix which is rapidly expanding its footprint in the live events industry. The company is focused on integrating with official ticketing platforms and implementing partnerships with promoters, teams, leagues and venues. Data collected from the app is analyzed to help event promoters and venue operators provide great customer experiences while improving their own top and bottom lines.
