LOS ANGELES, June 21, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- David and Jason Benham grew up in a world where faith in Christ was front and center. As the twin sons of national Christian pro-life leader Flip Benham, they watched as their dad confronted the culture about the horrors of abortion. That included befriending Norma McCorvey — better known as "Jane Roe" of the Supreme Court's infamous Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion — eventually helping lead her to faith in Christ and a profound change in her views on abortion.
Earlier this year the Benham brothers, who are real estate experts renowned for "flipping" houses — purchasing ramshackle dwellings, refurbishing them, and selling them at a profit — were forced to take a bold and costly stand for faith in their own right, making international headlines in the process.
The twin brothers were well into production on Flip It Forward, a reality show slated to debut this fall on a national cable network, that had them helping families create their dream homes from fixer-uppers. But when complaints about their Christian witness and stand on moral values hit the Internet and social media, network officials got cold feet and quickly canceled the program — leaving the Benhams and their production crew in the lurch.
The Benham brothers will talk about their experience — and the importance of standing firm in faith when the culture demands compromise — on a special Sunday evening edition of Trinity Broadcasting Network's Praise the Lord music and talk show, June 22nd.
Also appearing will be Britain's Got Talent singing sensation Susan Boyle. In 2009 Ms. Boyle inspired the world when she stepped onto the stage of the internationally televised British talent show to tell an incredulous Simon Cowell that she wanted to become a professional singer. Cowell and his panel of judges rolled their eyes, and the studio audience ridiculed the "plain Jane" 47-year-old single woman from a small Scottish village — that is, until she blew them and the rest of the world away with her angelic and beautiful voice (Click Here to see that moving performance and Ms. Boyle's discovery). Since then Susan Boyle has, indeed, become a "professional singer," selling more than twenty million albums in just five years. Ms. Boyle will share her amazing story and faith, along with her beautiful voice.
In addition TBN will welcome pastor, author, and popular speaker Tullian Tchividjian, grandson of beloved evangelist Dr. Billy Graham and pastor of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Hailed as part of "the face of a new generation of Christian leadership in America," Pastor Tchividjian will bring TBN's global audience a message of hope and encouragement.
Tune in Sunday evening, June 22nd, at 7 p.m. Pacific Time (9 p.m. Central, 10 p.m. Eastern), as hosts Matthew and Laurie Crouch welcome the Benham brothers, singer Susan Boyle, and Pastor Tullian Tchividjian for an extra-special edition of the award-winning Praise the Lord music and talk show, airing exclusively on the Trinity Broadcasting Network.
