WASHINGTON, April 2, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Association of Flight Attendants- CWA (AFA), the world's largest Flight Attendant union, issued the following statement today blasting the Supreme Court's decision to lift total spending limits on political campaigns.
"Once again, the super-rich have struck a blow to our democracy. For years, corporations and wealthy donors have manipulated global trade and national governments and now, the Supreme Court has paved the way for our future elections to go the highest bidder. This is not what democracy looks like.
"Today's decision is just another example of how workers and the middle class are continuing to be squeezed from all directions. While some may believe elections will now be decided by those with the biggest pocketbook, we know that informed voters can still control a democracy. AFA will redouble its efforts to engage members in our democracy."
The Association of Flight Attendants is the world's largest Flight Attendant union. Focused 100 percent on Flight Attendant issues, AFA has been the leader in advancing the Flight Attendant profession for 68 years. Serving as the voice for Flight Attendants in the workplace, in the aviation industry, in the media and on Capitol Hill, AFA has transformed the Flight Attendant profession by raising wages, benefits and working conditions. Nearly 60,000 Flight Attendants come together to form AFA, part of the 700,000-member strong Communications Workers of America (CWA), AFL-CIO. Visit us at www.afacwa.org.
