Flextronics Medical to Open Malaysia Facility to Complement Existing Low-Cost Footprint and Support Growth for Manufacturing Services

SINGAPORE, Nov. 1, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Flextronics (Nasdaq: FLEX) today announced that Flextronics Medical will open a dedicated, 180,000 square foot facility in Senai, Johor, Malaysia. This expansion will support a significant rise in demand from medical OEMs, while providing additional low-cost geographic diversity to meet our customers' needs.  Flextronics Medical's new clean room manufacturing, ISO13485 compliant facility in Senai will provide an extensive range of medical manufacturing services, including PCBA, plastic injection molding, and disposable device sub-assembly for medical devices and life sciences equipment. The clean-room facility will operate under Flextronics Medical's world class quality management system, FlexQ.  Flextronics Medical selected this location in Senai for its expansion based on the facility's low cost solution for medical customers and its proximity to skilled resources with competitive medical expertise in Singapore.

This market development follows Flextronics Medical's expansion in 2009, where the company added 600,000 square feet of capacity in Shenzhen, China. Flextronics Medical expects the Senai site to be fully operational by April 2011.
