Flextronics Expands Lighting Solutions Portfolio To Help Businesses Lower Energy Costs And Achieve Efficiency Goals
Introduces two new product lines for commercial and industrial lighting applications and receives industry award for its high bay fixtures
SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Following the introduction of its Lighting Solutions portfolio in October 2013, Flextronics (NASDAQ: FLEX) today announced the addition of two new product lines of energy efficient lighting fixtures to help commercial and industrial businesses lower their facility energy costs and achieve energy efficiency goals. The Company also announced that Architectural SSL magazine awarded a product innovation award for its new generation of high bay fixtures.
According to Energy Star, lighting accounts for up to 35% of electricity consumed by commercial buildings. LED lighting fixtures can reduce that power consumption by half and have a longer useful life which lowers facility maintenance costs.
To help customers achieve these results, Flextronics has introduced:
- LumenValue Series: Low cost LED fixtures that support a wide variety of low bay lighting applications. Available in two models to address 6000 and 12000 lumen needs, these contractor-grade products are ideal for new construction and renovation projects where quick financial paybacks are required.
- HiOptix Series: High efficacy LED fixtures designed to replace metal halide fixtures for applications that span medium to very high ceiling heights. Available in three models, they consume nearly 50% less energy while delivering the illumination of the equivalent 500W, 750W, and 1000W high intensity discharge (HID) fixtures.
The judges at SSL Magazine that awarded Flextronics' next generation Essentials Series the esteemed 2014 Product Innovation Award in the High Bay lighting category stated, "The thermal management and predicted life of 200,000 hours is phenomenal, and it is clear that this was a high priority."
The Minneapolis Convention Center, one of the largest in the Midwest, is committed to achieving more than 30% reduction in energy consumption by 2015. They selected the Essentials Series fixtures to retrofit their lighting on a one-for-one basis. Early returns on the project have been favorable and projections indicate a nearly 60% reduction in electricity for lighting.
"The improvements in use of energy, water and reduction of waste at the Minneapolis Convention Center will position the city to attract even more national and international convention business, bringing tremendous economic impact to Minneapolis and the region, while also lowering our impact in the local environment," said Jeff Johnson, executive director of the Minneapolis Convention Center.
In addition to offering the products for sale through traditional channels, Flextronics is also partnering with lighting manufacturers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to make the fixtures available under private label agreements.
"Flextronics is proud to help OEMs respond to regional growth opportunities while reducing the time to bring new solutions to market. Collectively, we are helping commercial and industrial businesses lower their utility bills with energy efficient lighting solutions," said Jeannine Sargent, president, Energy at Flextronics.
