Flexpoint Announces Receipt of Purchase Order and Partnership with Award Winning Researchers
Relationship creates pathway to groundbreaking OLED display interaction products/concepts featuring the Flexpoint Bend Sensor®
DRAPER, Utah, March 1, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Flexpoint Sensor Systems, Inc. (FLXT) announces they have received a Purchase Order from and entered into a Partner relationship with the Creative Interactions Lab (CIL) at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. CIL is headed up by Dr. Audrey Girouard, a highly published researcher and recipient of multiple scholar citations and awards. Dr. Girouard also previously participated in and contributed to the Human Media Lab research successes at Queen's University, and received her PhD from Tufts University.
Flexpoint has previously announced on-going developments (globally) with multiple customers in the consumer electronics market segments featuring OLED flexible displays, as well as virtual reality/augmented reality (VR/AR) and wearables. HCI and HMI (Human Machine Interface) technologies are key to these initiatives. These are market segments where the Bend Sensor® is differentiated and delivers tremendous value.
The relationship will extend support for the Canadian Foundation for Innovation grant received by Dr. Girouard to conduct research on emerging user interfaces in digital media. This funding is also supported by the Ontario Research Fund.
According to Paul Sexauer, Flexpoint VP Sales & Marketing, "Flexpoint technology continues to lead in these rapidly evolving and growing market segments. Aligning ourselves with and supporting leading research institutions like CIL will only propel us further and ensure future success and growth as products and applications like those borne out of this research featuring our unique technology come to market. We are very proud to support leaders like Dr. Girouard, her associates and the programs they represent." Flexpoint envisions leveraging research application success and experience with its commercial partners as they endeavor to take advantage and commercialize groundbreaking product opportunities.
Commenting on how the partner relationship with Flexpoint will benefit the CIL and CLUE research, Dr. Girouard states "Flexpoint's Bend Sensors® enable my students and I to measure precisely how users warp deformable prototypes, which enables a novel, rich new set of inputs for our digital devices. This new partnership strengthens our ability to perform high-quality research."
CIL is currently focused on researching deformable materials and flexible displays. A new generation of displays – OLED flexible displays -- that are rapidly making their way into our lives every day. They are focused on determining how their research exploits and offers new interaction techniques to users; complementary to the current touch capabilities of rigid screens. Sexauer further commented, "The Flexpoint-CIL relationship advances Flexpoints' position as a technology enabler with industry "thought leaders" in the OLED/FOLED marketspace; a market segment which is quickly becoming a tremendous growth catalyst for Flexpoint."
CIL enables and empowers human computer interaction researchers to work on next generation interactions. Their pioneering work combines novel interaction techniques with emerging user interfaces through software and hardware design, development and evaluation. Flexpoint contributions to the collaborative relationship consist of their Bend Sensor® technology and engineering support.
