IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- FlexEnergy Inc (www.flexenergy.com), a clean tech company with the breakthrough solution to generate clean energy with near-zero emissions from methane, will showcase its advanced technology for producing electricity from low concentration waste gas streams at SWANA Wastecon 2011, in Nashville, Tennessee, August 23 to 25.
"Our newest product, the 250kW Flex Powerstation™ FP250, is now shipping, and successfully generates renewable energy from waste gases, even in situations such as old, closed landfills, where the gas flow or methane concentration has become too low to support traditional gas turbine technologies," said Joe Perry, CEO, FlexEnergy Inc.
Ideal for landfills, wastewater treatment plants, and other sources of biogas, FlexEnergy Inc's Flex Powerstation™ FP250 uses methane gas streams or digester gas as a fuel to generate electricity and useful heat while responsibly destroying methane, a harmful source of greenhouse gases. The Flex Powerstation™ FP250 uses an advanced thermal oxidizer to destroy methane reliably within a target temperature range that is high enough to avoid the creation of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and Carbon Monoxide (CO), yet low enough to prevent the formation of Nitrous Oxide (NOx). This one-of-a-kind operating environment allows the Flex Powerstation™ FP250 to meet all current and planned state and federal air quality regulations. An optional heat recovery system can be used to create the industry's only integrated single-platform package for combined heat and power to optimize digester temperatures and boost overall energy efficiency.
