Flashpoint, Leading Deep and Dark Web Intelligence Provider, Raises $5 Million in Financing Round
Funds to Accelerate Sales and Development of its "Illuminate" Intelligence Platform
NEW YORK, April 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Flashpoint, the leading commercial provider of intelligence from the Deep and Dark Web, announced today that it had secured $5 million in a Series A financing round led by TechOperators, LLC. Also participating were Bloomberg Beta, Cisco Investments, Greycroft Partners, and K2 Intelligence.
"We couldn't have asked for a more dynamic group of investors to help us grow our operations and drive sales," reflected Josh Lefkowitz, CEO of Flashpoint. "Our pioneering approach of blending subject matter expertise with innovative software engineering has made us the global leaders in Deep and Dark Web intelligence. Now, this financing has come at the perfect time for us to capitalize on the incredible market momentum and thirst for intelligence from the uncharted regions of the Internet."
Flashpoint's "Illuminate" platform and related services offer security professionals the critical missing data and intelligence they need to protect their companies and customers from malicious actors operating in the most exclusive venues on the Internet. Illuminate uniquely empowers companies to discover and monitor previously concealed illicit activity and take informed, proactive steps to defend against existing and looming threats.
"There has been a substantial region of the Internet walled off to those charged with defending corporations and their customers from criminals, fraudsters, terrorists, and other nefarious actors operating online," explained Lefkowitz. "With Illuminate, we are bringing the Deep and Dark Web to our clients' fingertips and enabling them to gain insights into adversaries in ways that haven't been possible before in a commercial product."
Glenn McGonnigle, a General Partner at TechOperators who will be joining the company's board of directors, affirmed, "Sophisticated cyber criminals have moved to the Deep and Dark Web. Flashpoint has established themselves as best in class at mining intelligence from these areas and sharing actionable findings real time with their customers. We are excited to be partnered with this world-class team as they redefine the threat intelligence market."
"We are pleased to invest in Flashpoint as their intelligence collection across the Deep and Dark Web furthers our goal of helping our customers address their most difficult security challenges," said Bryan Palma, Cisco, SVP Cisco Security Services. "This investment exemplifies our continued commitment to utilizing the latest threat intelligence across our security solutions."
With an already strong reach into the Fortune 500 across several sectors, including financial services, healthcare, technology, and retail, Flashpoint will use the funds to accelerate its sales operations and to invest heavily in developing its Illuminate platform and scale its proprietary technologies in utilizing data from the Deep and Dark Web.
