Flag for Hope Comes to Atlanta, Georgia
Creating National Community Through Art
ATLANTA, June 17, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Flag for Hope, led by globally acclaimed artist Marcos Antonio, is proud to announce Atlanta, Georgia as the next location on their world tour. This event invites participants from all walks of life to embrace and solidify their place in the historical record by contributing their handprints to collaborative 'panels of impression,' and be preserved as an historic account of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
This pop-up arts event will take place June 18th in Atlanta's Centennial Olympic Park. Contributors are encouraged to come together with friends and family to share in this unique event. By taking part in this project participants will create an indelible physical and digital record of a unified global community that will be on display to allow future generations access to their personal and shared histories.
This event will be located in Centennial Park at the Quilt of Remembrance, a memorial dedicated to the 111 people injured by the 1996 Olympic Park bombing -- weather permitting. Beginning at 12PM, canvases will be set up to capture the handprints of contributors as they join in this community building experience. Flag for Hope Facebook and Twitter feeds will be updated to reflect any changes in time or location should weather conditions necessitate a change of venue.
Flag for Hope is the US division of Impressions of Humanity, an unprecedented worldwide collaboration of arts and humanities. Founded in 2009 by artist Marcos Antonio, the team is currently traveling the globe with the mission of creating 960 panels of impression to unite the world. These panels will be preserved and future generations granted access to an electronic database featuring photographs, video, and other documentation of each event.
