FIVE-YEAR HIGH REVENUE GAINS PUTS TANTALUS ON DELOITTE TECHNOLOGY FAST 50(TM) RANKINGS
Tantalus sees over 600 percent revenue growth with increasing smart grid demand
RALEIGH, Sept. 24 /PRNewswire/ - Tantalus is honored to be ranked 31st by Deloitte in the 2010 Technology Fast 50(TM) awards program, which singles out Canadian technology companies posting the highest percentage revenue growth over five years. Inclusion in the Fast 50 program makes Tantalus eligible for a prestigious Deloitte North American Technology Fast 500 ranking.
Tantalus is a Smart Grid communications company experiencing remarkable growth as the demand for its technology escalates. Utilities throughout Canada and the U.S., including several recipients of stimulus grants from the U.S. Department of Energy use Tantalus technology to automate energy management and control. Tantalus, rooted in Vancouver, British Columbia, recently opened an office in Raleigh, North Carolina, to be closer to its east coast customers.
The Tantalus Homerun(TM) Network enables a utility to use its FTTH network for rich media services and as the data pipeline that connects hundreds of thousands of utility endpoints including meters, load shedding devices, and smart thermostats. Pulaski Electric System was Tantalus' first utility customer to use their high-speed Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) network to drive their smart grid initiative. Another utility in the Tennessee Valley, EPB in Chattanooga, is leveraging its one-gigabit FTTH network, the fastest broadband service in the country, for a full range of smart grid applications provided by Tantalus.
The Tantalus Utility Network (TUNet(R)) is a two-way, near real-time data communications network that enables a utility to precisely monitor energy usage and power quality, instantly pinpoint outages and energy losses, and remotely manage meters and other utility distribution apparatus to ensure that the grid is operating at peak performance as well as to interact with consumers in conservation efforts
Eric Murray, Tantalus President & CEO, said: "This award is shared with our customers - electric, water and gas utilities committed to managing resources intelligently and cost effectively, while maintaining the highest level of customer service possible. Many are early adopters who have been instrumental in the development of our solution and proving its value in some of North America's most challenging urban and rural operating environments. Their successes are driving our growth."
The Deloitte ranking is the fourth major industry award that Tantalus and its customers have received in 2010. Earlier in the year, Tantalus was recognized for its achievement in commercializing a market leading Smart Grid solution by the GLOBE Foundation, Canada's premier award for business excellence and environmental stewardship. Pulaski Electric System earned awards of excellence from both Metering International and PowerGrid International for the business, operational and customer service benefits it achieved as a result of its Tantalus deployment.
Tantalus was listed among the Deloitte Technology Green 15(TM) in 2009, an awards program that honors companies which offer technology solutions that deliver a significant environmental impact and demonstrate a compelling return on investment.
