Five Sutter Health Hospital Campuses Earn 2014 Top Hospital Distinction

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Dec. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, The Leapfrog Group® named five Sutter Health hospital campuses to its annual list of Top Hospitals. The elite distinction honors hospitals that demonstrate excellence in safety and quality through the Leapfrog Hospital Survey. The Leapfrog Group awards the Top Hospital recognition to less than seven percent of all eligible hospitals.

Sutter Health hospital campuses named as Top Hospitals in 2014 include:

Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, Alta Bates campus in Berkeley
California Pacific Medical Center, Pacific, California and St. Luke's campuses in San Francisco
Sutter Maternity and Surgery Center of Santa Cruz

Selection as a Top Hospital is based on the results of The Leapfrog Group's annual hospital survey, which measures hospitals' performance on patient safety and quality, focusing on three critical areas of hospital care: how patients fare, resource use and management structures established to prevent errors. Performance across many areas of hospital care is considered in establishing the qualifications for the award, including rates for high-risk procedures and a hospital's ability to prevent medication errors.
