"We're proud to help support the Texas Food Bank Network for the second year," says Neeraj Sharma, Selma, Texas plant operations manager for John B. Sanfilippo & Son, Inc., the manufacturer and distributor of Fisher Nuts products. "It's a great opportunity for us to honor our Texas roots and help feed hungry Texas families this holiday season."
TFBN member food banks distributed 300 million pounds of food in 2012 nourishing over three million Texans through a statewide network of 3,900 soup kitchens, food pantries and local agencies. TFBN also helps food banks build the capacity to end hunger by managing statewide food sourcing and purchasing programs, offering expert technical assistance and training, and spreading food bank innovations and best practices statewide.
"With one in four Texas households with children reporting an inability to afford enough food, we are fighting a tough battle on hunger," says Celia Cole, Chief Executive Office at TFBN. "We are thrilled to have Fisher's support again this year to help provide thousands of meals to deserving families this holiday season."
The most valuable items for the Fisher Shares & Cares Food Drive are items that are in non-breakable containers and non-perishable foods, such as:
