BOSTON, March 28, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Fish & Richardson has been designated as a "Best Place to Work" by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation in its recently-released Corporate Equality Index 2019, which assessed 1,028 U.S. companies on corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) workplace equality.
"We are honored to receive a perfect score from the Human Rights Campaign, as it reflects our steadfast commitment to our core values of diversity and inclusion," said Peter Devlin, President of Fish & Richardson. "In a global marketplace, the business case for diversity and inclusion is even more compelling, as diverse teams often achieve better overall results. As a law firm with clients around the world, we need diverse teams to successfully serve diverse individuals and interests."
Overall, 560 major U.S. businesses earned a 100 percent rating. HRC assessed companies based on LGBTQ-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections; domestic partner benefits; transgender-inclusive health care benefits; competency programs; and public engagement with the LGBTQ community.
"The top-scoring companies on this year's CEI are not only establishing policies that affirm and include employees here in the United States, they are applying these policies to their global operations and impacting millions of people beyond our shores," said HRC President Chad Griffin. "Many of these companies have also become vocal advocates for equality in the public square.... Time and again, leading American businesses have shown that protecting their employees and customers from discrimination isn't just the right thing to do – it's also good for business."
Founded in 1980, the Human Rights Campaign is the nation's largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people. The Foundation is the educational arm of the HRC.
