Fish & Richardson Principal William R. Woodford Named 2012 "Up & Coming" Lawyer

MINNEAPOLIS, July 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- William R. Woodford, a principal in the Intellectual Property (IP) Litigation Group at Fish & Richardson, has been selected as a 2012 "Up & Coming Lawyer" by Minnesota Lawyer.  The award recognizes attorneys who have practiced for 10 years or less and have already distinguished themselves by their achievements in the practice of law and in their community.

At Fish, Mr. Woodford focuses his practice on complex patent litigation in a variety of technological areas, including computer hardware and software, electronics, medical devices, mechanical systems, and biotechnology for both large and small companies, as well as academic and research institutions.  He also develops, manages, and licenses patent portfolios.

Woodford was named a Fish principal in 2010, and holds several leadership positions within the firm.  For the past six years, he has served on the committee that manages contingent fee cases for the firm and its clients.  He also serves as a Co-Group Leader for the litigation associates in the Minneapolis office, which involves mentoring, managing work flow, and participating in performance reviews. 

Mr. Woodford received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Minnesota in 2002 and his B.S., cum laude, in electrical engineering from Marquette University in 1998.
