Fish & Richardson Principal Michael Hawkins Named 2013 "Up & Coming" Lawyer

MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Michael Hawkins, a principal in the Patent Group at Fish & Richardson, has been selected as a 2013 "Up & Coming Lawyer" by Minnesota Lawyer.  The award recognizes attorneys who have practiced for 10 years or less and have already distinguished themselves in the practice of law and in their community.

Hawkins focuses his practice on patent portfolio strategy and management, patent reexaminations/post-grant proceedings, patentability analysis, clearance investigations, intellectual property licensing and agreements, due diligence investigations, and pre-suit investigations across a wide range of technologies.  He was named a principal in 2012, and is involved with Fish's 1L Diversity Fellowship Program, which provides paid summer associate positions, academic scholarships, and mentoring to diverse first year law school students from across the country.  He also helps inventors and small businesses bring their ideas to the marketplace through the Federal Circuit Bar Association's pro bono inventor assistance program.

Hawkins received his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2004 and his B.S., with high distinction, in mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota in 2000.
