Fish & Richardson Principal Ellen A. Scordino Named 2013 "Top Woman of Law" by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly

BOSTON, Oct. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Fish & Richardson announced today that Ellen A. Scordino, a principal at the firm, has been named to the Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly 2013 list of "Top Women of Law."  This prestigious award is given to women lawyers who have made great professional strides and demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in private practice, the corporate arena, and social advocacy. Scordino will be honored at a ceremony on October 31, 2013 in Boston.

At Fish, Scordino focuses her practice on patent infringement litigation and patent counseling, with particular experience litigating cases related to pharmaceuticals, biotechnologies, and medical devices.  She also provides strategic counseling on various legal and regulatory issues.  Prior to her law career, she was a research scientist at Purdue Pharma LP and a chemist at Copley Pharmaceuticals.

Scordino currently works with the Elder Law Project of the Women's Bar Association, helping to educate seniors about the importance of having end-of-life documents and preparing those documents for low-income elders on a pro bono basis.  She has also worked with the Northeast Housing Court's lawyer-for-a-day program, which helps tenants avoid eviction and possible homelessness while resolving issues with landlords.  Outside the office, she is an elected member of the Hopkinton School Committee, representing one of Massachusetts' top school districts.

Scordino received her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 2001, where she was senior editor of the Environmental Law Journal.  She received her B.S. in chemistry from Trinity College in 1995.
