Fish & Richardson Named American Lawyer "IP Litigation Department of the Year" Finalist

BOSTON, Jan. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Fish & Richardson announced today that it has been named "IP Litigation Department of the Year" finalist by The American Lawyer.  Fish litigator Juanita Brooks was also singled out as "Litigator of the Year" winner for being "a titan of the patent bar."  The prestigious American Lawyer awards were published on January 3, 2014.

According to American Lawyer, Fish "handles more patent litigation than any other firm...more than double the amount of the next busiest firm."  In 2012, "Fish handled 20 percent of all U.S. patent cases tried to verdict" and "more importantly, when Fish goes to trial, it's a force." 

The magazine lauded several of Fish's many significant wins over the past two years including: a U.S. Supreme Court 9-0 victory for Mayo Clinic "which has major implications in the burgeoning field of personalized medicine" and a big win for 37 defendants (large retailers, banks, and airlines) accused of patent infringement by Parallel Networks LLC (a non practicing entity) in which Fish was able to "bring the massive litigation to a quick end before the expensive discovery process began."  Fish represented 75 defendants in the Parallel Networks case at the Federal Circuit and "delivered the winning argument on behalf of all the defendants."
