FirstMerit Bank Volunteers Cleanup Chicago Beaches

CHICAGO, May 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- On Saturday, May 14, 2016, more than 50 FirstMerit Bank employees, friends, families, customers and Chicago business partners cleaned up two Chicago beaches, removing trash and spreading more than 80 yards of mulch in time for summer crowds. Combining community service with fun, some lucky volunteers received tickets to Windy City LakeShake at the FirstMerit Pavilion at Northerly Island June 17 – 19 and every volunteer received Live Nation concert cash. The bank also donated $10,000 to the Chicago Park District.

FirstMerit partnered with Windy City LakeShake, Live Nation, NBC Chicago (WMAQ-TV5), US99 and KHits radio to bring this event to the Chicago Park District.

"With FirstMerit Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island in the heart of the Chicago Parks District, it seemed like a natural fit for these organizations to come together to recruit volunteers to help cleanup the Chicago Park District for those who visit this summer," said David Taylor, Senior Vice President, FirstMerit PrivateBank Regional Executive.

Live Nation's commitment to the Parks and Chicago is similar to that of FirstMerit Bank. The $10,000 donation will be used to support Park District Programs.
