BRUNSWICK, Ga., May 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- FirstLight Home Care, an award-winning provider of non-medical home care, announced that Debbie Owens of the Brunswick, Georgia, location has been awarded the national Caregiver of the Year for 2016. The Brunswick franchise location is owned by Eric Friedrich II. Owens was one of several award winners recognized at the FirstLight Home Care national franchise convention in Nashville, Tennessee, last week.
Owens was selected because of her optimistic outlook and her amazing work ethic, according to her nomination narrative. She demonstrated her service-before-self attitude during Hurricane Matthew. Owens made the decision to stay with her clients during the mandatory evacuation instead of evacuating with her own family. Owens was also recognized by the family of one of her clients for her "exceptionally big heart."
"Debbie is a shining example of the kind of caregivers we have at FirstLight," said Jeff Bevis, FirstLight Home Care co-founder and CEO. "We are blessed to have hundreds of fantastic caregivers serving FirstLight clients throughout the U.S., and this year Debbie was selected as the best of the best. FirstLight Home Care is proud of all our caregivers and the significance behind each of their efforts to provide exceptional care for people in their communities."
FirstLight Home Care serves seniors, adults with disabilities, new mothers, those recovering from surgery and other adults in need of assistance. FirstLight caregivers help with many needs – from personal hygiene and household duties such as cooking, cleaning and running errands, to mobility assistance and dementia care.
Since opening its first franchise location in 2010, FirstLight Home Care has experienced steady growth and is now operating more than 145 locations in 32 states throughout the U.S.
