FirstEnergy Snowstorm Outage Update
November 3, 2011 - 5 a.m. update.
AKRON, Ohio, Nov. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 736,000 FirstEnergy (NYSE: FE) utility customers in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Maryland have been restored after losing power due to the Saturday, October 29 snowstorm. Overall, 817,000 customers were affected by the storm.
Crews continue working to restore service to the 81,000 customers who remain without power.
The remaining FirstEnergy outage totals by utility include:
- Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) – The majority of the 61,000 customers who remain without power should be restored by late Thursday. There could be isolated cases continuing into the weekend in some of the hardest-hit neighborhoods.
- Metropolitan Edison (Met-Ed) – The majority of the 20,000 customers without power should be restored by midnight Friday, with the remainder through the weekend.
