FirstEnergy Snowstorm Outage Update
November 2, 2011 - 9 p.m. update.
AKRON, Ohio, Nov. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 709,000 FirstEnergy (NYSE: FE) utility customers in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Maryland have been restored after losing power due to the Saturday, October 29 snowstorm. Overall, 817,000 customers were affected by the storm.
Crews continue working to restore service to about 108,000 customers who remain without power.
Estimated restoration times are as follows:
- Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) – The majority of the 83,000 customers who remain without power will be restored by midnight Thursday. There could be isolated cases continuing into the weekend in some of the hardest-hit neighborhoods.
- Metropolitan Edison (Met-Ed) – The majority of the 25,000 customers who remain without power in eastern Pennsylvania will be restored by midnight Friday, with the remainder through the weekend.
- Potomac Edison – Full restoration of the remaining 400 customers will be completed by midnight tonight.
