MADISON, Wis., March 5, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Three area nonprofits, GreenPath Debt Solutions, Buyers Round Table of Dane County and Project Home, will team up for a two-night Home Buyer Education Class on March 10 and 17 in Madison, or a one-day version on Saturday, March 21.
"The spring home-buying season is nearly here, and this class is for first time homebuyers, particularly those who qualify for various down payment assistance programs," said Ellen Bernards, GreenPath education specialist. "It will help participants prepare for homeownership, assist them in budgeting and planning, and help them understand the mortgage application and approval process." She also noted that one of the major down payment assistance funding sources will become available again in mid-March.
The class features practitioners in lending, real estate, insurance, home inspection and debt management. Classroom time totals seven hours over two consecutive Tuesdays. A one-hour GreenPath counseling session is also required for those applying for down payment assistance programs, per National Industry Standards.
March 10 will cover credit, money management, down payment assistance programs and lending.
March 17 will feature realtors, home inspectors, insurance agents and closing experts.
March 21 will combine the March 10 and 17 content into one full day class.
