FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., June 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale's Kirk Singers (High School Choir) has a 51-year history of sharing its talents with people across the nation and the world, and this year is no different.

On June 9, the Kirk Singers departed for a singing tour that will take them to San Francisco, Portland, Seattle and a number of other West Coast towns and cities in between. They will return June 19 and resume their weekly performance during the traditional worship service in September.
Michael Sayers, Music Associate, will be chaperoning and conducting the 16 members of the Kirk Singers making the trip – the latest in a long line of trips that has taken the Kirk Singers to almost every state, Canada, parts of Europe, Costa Rica and New Zealand.
"The idea behind this tour is to share our music in other parts of the country and the world," said Robin McEachern, Minister of Music for First Presbyterian Church. "This is indeed a part of fulfilling Christ's command to 'go into all the world and preach the gospel' through music."
McEachern added, "God gives a voice to sound his joy and calls it music. From the massive sounds of our Cathedral Choir, brass and organ to the vibrant and energetic rhythm of our Kirk Singers, our whole music ministry is devoted to serving our risen Lord with resounding joy."
But it's not just about the music or spreading the word of Christ.
"Also built into the trips is the chance to see historic places, go to amusement parks, hike mountains, or swim in the ocean. The tour shapes the lives of our young people and helps them form memories of travelling and singing together that last a lifetime," said Sayers.
