"We were excited to be able to customize this location for our contemporary worship service, which often includes energetic music, moving performances and greater engagement with the congregants," said Rev. Dr. Russ Ritchel, Pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale. "This new and improved space will allow us to better meet the needs of our congregants by providing yet another functional space on our campus fully equipped for worship and fellowship."
The upgraded Fellowship Hall now features a modernized look and feel with a grey and blue color palette, acoustic ceilings, an upgraded lighting system, a new sound booth, and a new projection system with two HD projectors and 120-inch screens. The renovations also included installation of a family, ADA-accessible bathroom in the lobby and new window treatments and vinyl wood flooring.
The Fellowship Hall renovation project, which began on April 6, 2015, is part of the church's Master Plan to improve the campus and was financed by donations from church members. The project was completed by James Hartley Construction, with the help of Fisher Electric, Master Florida Builders and Zebedee Systems.
"A lot of people came together to make this renovation possible," said Ritchel. "The church is grateful for all the participants who saw this project through from start to finish, including the church staff, the church's Building and Grounds Committee, Rita Dobbs and Mike House, among others."
First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale's Sanctuary, where 11 a.m. traditional worship services are held, is currently undergoing renovations. The upgrades to the Sanctuary, which will include a new color palette, new carpeting and upholstery, and new choir chairs, will be completed by September 4, 2015 – Just in time for the church's annual Rally Day celebration on Sunday, September 13, 2015.
The church has no immediate plans for further renovations once the Sanctuary project is completed.
