First-of-its-kind Advanced Threat Defense Solution Certification Testing from ICSA Labs confirms security products can detect known, unknown cyberthreats
Solutions from three vendors receive initial certification
MECHANICSBURG, Pa., Dec. 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- ICSA Labs, an independent division of Verizon, today announced the results of its initial round of advanced threat defense (ATD) certification testing. Advanced Threat Protection Framework from Fortinet, Inc.; Symantec Advanced Threat Protection from Symantec Corporation; and Trend Micro Deep Discovery™ Inspector from Trend Micro Incorporated became the first products to earn ICSA Labs' Advanced Threat Defense Certification after a five-week period of continuous, rigorous testing.
ICSA Labs' Advanced Threat Defense (ATD) Certification testing is the first-of-its-kind by an ISO-accredited lab focused on the detection of threats that traditional security products miss. To demonstrate their ability to keep pace with an ever-evolving threat landscape, the ATD solutions from participating vendors are tested by ICSA Labs as many as four times a year - each time against the latest threats. The recently completed initial round of that ATD testing was the first of those recurring test cycles.
"Enterprises have long needed protection from new and unknown malicious threats," said Jack Walsh, special projects program manager at ICSA Labs. "Having multiple layers of defense is a good start, but enterprises must also defend against malicious threats that are not yet known and the vectors by which those threats are delivered to help reduce risk."
Following each test cycle, including this initial round of testing, the reports resulting from ICSA Labs Advanced Threat Defense Certification Testing are published on the ICSA Labs website. ICSA Labs only publishes reports for the ATD solutions that met all the requirements in version 1.0 of the Advanced Threat Defense Certification Testing Criteria.
