First Lady Susan Corbett to Join Trade Mission to Europe to Promote PA's Arts, Culture and Tourism
HARRISBURG, Pa., March 14, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- First Lady Susan Corbett will serve as Pennsylvania's tourism ambassador on Governor Tom Corbett's upcoming European trade mission. She will meet with some of France and Germany's top arts and cultural leaders to promote Pennsylvania as a world-class cultural destination for international visitors.
This four-city, two-country mission, privately funded by Team PA, is scheduled for March 18-23. Mrs. Corbett will make stops in France and Germany.
"This is a banner year for art in Pennsylvania and we know that the international art community will share our enthusiasm," Mrs. Corbett said. "From the Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh to the new Barnes Foundation museum, opening in Philadelphia in May, the commonwealth is positioned to be an arts and cultural destination for years to come."
As a tourism ambassador, Mrs. Corbett will host media and trade events in the French cities of Lyon and Paris and the German city of Dusseldorf. She is also scheduled to meet with leaders from the Museum of Fine Arts in Lyon, the Dusseldorf Cultural Office, the K21, and the NRW Tanzhaus.
"Strong international ties will allow us to promote Pennsylvania's art venues abroad and to bring renowned European art to our museums," said Mrs. Corbett. "I look forward to showcasing the impressive venues and organizations that define our state, as well as, the hidden gems in Pennsylvania's countryside."
Representatives from Pennsylvania's arts, culture and tourism community will be participating in the mission, including the Philadelphia Convention and Visitor's Bureau, Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation and Visit Pittsburgh.
