First Lady of Malaysia, H.E. Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor to Receive International Peace and Harmony Award 2010
NEW YORK, April 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Her Excellency Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor of Malaysia will receive the International Peace and Harmony Award from the Business Council for International Understanding tonight in New York City. The award will be presented by former Secretary of State Lawrence Eagleburger at an event emceed by Academy Award-winning actor, Jamie Foxx with performances by the Boys Choir of Harlem and Leona Lewis.
The International Peace and Harmony Award, an iconic cast lucite piece designed by renowned sculptor Sergey Eylanbekov, is intended to highlight the First Lady's extensive charitable efforts and to celebrate the important links between the Malaysia and the United States.
In addition to her role as First Lady, H.E. Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor serves as President of the Welfare Association of Ministers' Wives (BAKTI) and Girl Guides Association. She works extensively with the Children in Hope Foundation, Malaysian Nature Society (PENCINTA), Society of the Orthopedically Handicapped Malaysia, Malaysia Aids Council, Asian Institute of Management (AIM) and the Thalasemia Association. Currently, she is spearheading the development of a Gifted and Talented Program named Permata Pintar for children with special abilities in the fields of academia and music.
By receiving the International Peace and Harmony Award in New York, the First Lady wishes to raise awareness of and support for a number of her humanitarian initiatives.
